Father Seamus Kerr is a remarkable American Irishman who has served the Yakima Diocese for over sixty years since arriving in the United States in 1961. At the age of 95, he continues to serve his faith community through public masses, confessions, spiritual direction, and warm friendships.
Father Kerr has a great love for sports, particularly golf. He cherished playing golf with his dear friend and seminary classmate, the late Monsignor Skeen. They were often seen at the Colockum Ridge Golf Course in Quincy, sharing Irish stories and jokes. Father Kerr's good sense of humor and love for storytelling are woven into his life, his homilies, and his conversations with friends.
His passion for sharing his faith can be seen in his unwavering support and commitment to the St. Rose School community. He has been a steadfast supporter-- generous in prayer, and persistent in his dedication to St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in Ephrata for many years. It is indeed fitting that the school's golf tournament fundraiser at Colockum Ridge Golf Course be dedicated to him.
